The intent of our Affirming Church Directory™ is to provide an online resource for people to locate and visit welcoming Christian churches around the world. We list congregations that meet on a regular basis in a physical location for worship, prayer, service and fellowship. One of the main resources we use on the path of an Open and Affirming journey is Building an Inclusive Church. The Coalition receives a portion of the proceeds and we are grateful for your support. SEOUL — As service begins at Open Doors Metropolitan Church, about a dozen members draw up chairs and sprawl across couches in the makeshift space that serves as a gay bar by night, coffeeshop by day, and worship space on Sunday mornings. The mission of the Association of Welcoming & Affirming Baptists is to create and support a community of churches, organizations and individuals committed to the inclusion of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender persons in the full life and mission of Baptist churches. What words are used on the church website, brochures, bulletins, social media bios, etc. However, even with our best investigative skills and a better understanding of what the words welcoming, inclusive and affirming really mean, finding an accepting church can be easier said than done and still leaves a lot of room for guessing. Thankfully, there are several websites that have already done a lot of the work for us as we search for the communities in our lives that help us find the right place for each of us.
